Ed Therapy

Educational Therapy is a specialized intervention that targets the cognitive and learning processes that impact academic performance. Unlike traditional tutoring, it focuses on building foundational skills, executive functioning, and metacognitive strategies to support long-term, independent learning. Educational therapists use individualized assessments and targeted interventions to help students overcome learning challenges and manage thinking or learning differences more effectively.

“Vanessa possesses a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by students with and without disabilities. She has extensive knowledge of various learning styles and strategies that can be used to effectively support these students. Her expertise in literacy education is equally impressive. She demonstrates a strong grasp of current research and best practices in teaching reading and writing to all learners, especially those with specific learning difficulties. Her ease of communicating effective strategies navigating the nuances of students who require more support through lndividual Education Plans is impressive.”

“Vanessa has been working with my son for the past year and a half. During this time, he has progressed in his reading by three grade levels and is now reading at grade level. We are continuing with Vanessa to ensure his growth stays aligned with the increasing demands of school as he prepares for middle school. He has become a stronger writer as they work on his reading and spelling. I must admit, some of the spelling rules he comes home with are new to me, so I’ve learned a little along the way, too.”

“Our daughter has autism, so we sought support for her academic and social needs. We are so lucky to have found Vanessa. We have been together since 5th grade, and our daughter is beginning a college-level program because of their work together over the years. We are so proud of our daughter and grateful for Vanessa.”

“As soon as we saw the little schoolhouse in the backyard, Emmy got so excited to have her “own little classroom,” and Vanessa was so sweet. Although she has only worked with Vanessa for eight months, according to her teacher, Emmy has gone from a second-grade non-reader to reading on grade level. These days, Emmy is almost always seen with a book in her hand. She is ready for third grade.”
